Bilingual Poetry Book for Hispanic Heritage Month

It is a pleasure to present to you my AWARD WINNING POETRY BOOKPoems,Thoughts and More, to begin a new Season, FALL/SPRING 2017.
This is a bilingual book of poems in English/Spanish to celebrate life with author's voyage anecdotes and flash fiction. This book is for adults and all lovers of poetry.

The reason I wrote this book was to bring together the best poems of my collection. For several years I have posted a monthly poem, reflections and famous quotes on my Facebook page and Website:  www.luzdelmes.com

It was a delight to select the best poems, anecdotes and famous quotes to give a taste of inspiration.

Getting ready for The Poetry Marathon 2017

Photo cortesy: The Poetry Marathon
I participated in the Half-Poetry Marathon 2016 and Complete Poetry Marathon 2015. It is an exciting event!
The complete poetry challenge consists on writing 24 poems in 24 hours and the half-marathon:12 poems in 12 hours.
Every hour, you receive a prompt with images or even music to inspire you to write your poem.
This phenomenal event is organized by Caitlin Jans (Thomson) and Jacob Jans, two writers and web publishers living in the Pacific Northwest.

Based on my experience, this is how I prepare for a Poetry Marathon Challenge

 1. Sleep well the night before.
2. Join and follow Facebook Group Posts, days in advance.
3. Check Prompt every hour and even create your own prompts
4. Work on a word document and edit before publish on the Poetry Website Event.
5. Best of all, Have FUN!

And What to do in between hours?
Prepare an easy meal, drink herbal tea, do yoga, even laundry,
and the most important, read other's participant poems!

What is you prepariton?,,,

What is a Haiku?

April is set aside as National Poetry Month to celebrate poets and poetry. The Academy of American Poets and other  poetry organizations schedule events this month.

For more information visit: National Poetry Month.

My favorite poetry style is a Haiku (plural Haiku).

hai·ku /ˈhīˌko͞o(noun)
  1. a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.
Haiku is one of the most important form of traditional Japanese poetry: 5/ 7/ 5 syllables. Some Haiku:

Senses Haiku
 By Maritza M. Mejia@2015

Sightless
If we were sightless
We would see human’s essence
Not skin colors

 Unscented
If we were unscented
We do not enjoy nature
And the beauty of life

Unheard
Voice without sound,
Are we listening to others?
Attend to be heard!

 Tasteless
Life without flavor,
Empty, gloomy, dim, tasteless,
Toss color to your life!

Untouched
Undesirable!
How could this be possible?
Humans need humans.

Intuition
One precious value!
Watch, sense, listen, and feel,
Follow it on your path.

For this month readings, I present to you my Award Poetry Book:

Happy Poetry Month!
