The Season of Creation is observed from September 1st through October 4th (Feast of Francis of Assisi), as an invitation to deepen our commitment to caring for our common home.
- 2026 Theme: "Living Water," inspired by the biblical
text of Ezekiel 47:1-12:
“ We are called to
immerse ourselves in the water, and actively safeguard and work for the renewal
of creation so that environmental healing and human well-being may flourish
together.”
- Purpose: To unite Christians worldwide in prayer, ecological conversion, and community action for environmental care and the well-being of marginalized communities.
- Establishment: Pope Francis officially embraced the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation in the Catholic Church in 2015 and extended support for the broader month-long observance.
- Focus: Grounded in the vision of Laudato Si', Catholics are invited to respond to both the "cry of the earth and the cry of the poor" through sustainable practices, advocacy, and prayer.
On September first, we celebrated the World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation, to pause, pray, and reflect on our responsibility to care for God’s creation. On this day, Pope Leo XIV invited us to pray for the “Care for water”"Let us pray for a just and sustainable management of water, a vital resource, so that everyone may have equal access to it."
🌿During September 15 - October 1, inspired by "Mujeres del pasado: Agentes del presente," we had four sessions on reflection about women of the past and what they taught us about caring for what has been entrusted to us.

💧October 4 is the last day of the Season of Creation, celebrated on St. Francis of Assisi's Day. He is the founder of the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) and the patron Saint of Animals, Archaeologists, Ecology, and Italy.
Let's conclude the Season of Creation with the Canticle of the Creatures by St. Francis of Assisi as we celebrate the 800th anniversary of its composition this year. It was composed in increments between 1225 and 1226, in the last year of Francis’ life. The canticle begins most famously by turning to the natural world as a reason to praise God, before then turning to peacemakers and finally to death, all as reminders to us to give praise to our God.
Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,
Yours are the praises, the glory, and the honor, and all blessing,
To You alone, Most High, do they belong,
and no human is worthy to mention Your name.
Praised be You, my Lord, with all Your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun,
Who is the day and through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor; and bears a likeness of You,
Most High One.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars,
in heaven You formed them clear and precious and beautiful.
Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Wind,

who is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.

through whom You light the night,
and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.

and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs.

and serve Him with great humility.
