Vanilla and Chocolate was published in October 2012 by Maritza M. Mejia. This book was written to help children understand the virtue of Tolerance.

Main Setting: Vanilla and Chocolate main setting is at the Black and White Picnic where the development of the story mainly takes place. 

Plot: A concerned teacher helps two friends be together after their parents refused to let them play because of their skin color.

Characters: Mrs. M. prepared a Black and White Picnic Day where Vanilla and Chocolate’s parents recognized their kid’s friendship.

The last page of the story contains a vocabulary page and questions for discussion .

Durante la primavera, asistí a ferias del libro locales y visitas de salones de clase para promover la literatura bilingüe. Es una obligación cumplir con la solicitud d muchos estudiantes, que me pidieron más personajes en el cuento de "Vainilla y Chocolate" y la secuencia del "Tesoro de la abuela." Por eso durante el verano, voy a tomar un descanso para trabajar en la próxima aventura con “Lecciones de Vida”.

Maritza M. Mejia - First Semester Presentations

This year, I have the honor to present my books nationally and internationally. We opened and closed the semester with the invitation to participate at the Literary Forums organized by Fefi Teve; in which I presented my memoir and poetry book. During spring, I attended local book fairs and classroom visits promoting bilingual literature. It’s an obligation to attend student’s request, who asked me for more characters on the children’s book “Vanilla and Chocolate” and the sequel of “Grandma’s Treasure.” For that reason during the summer, I’ll take a break to work on next adventure with Lessons for Living.

Development a Second Story for Lessons for Living

Grandma’s Treasure: A Story of Gratitude.

To continue my family project: Lessons for Living - Lecciones de Vida, I wrote Grandma's Treasure. 

The Collection contains Bilingual Children Book with a moral, vocabulary page, questions for discussion and activity page for home or classrooms k-4 graders. 

The first book was Vanilla and Chocolate illustrated by my teenage daughter, edited by my son and published by WRB Publishing in 2012.
