💧October 1–4: Living Water: From Reflection to Call to Action
October 4 is the traditional closing of the Season of Creation and the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. -Inspired by Ezekiel 47:1–12, reflect and connect with the symbol "Immersion in Living Water."-
On September
first, we celebrate the World Day of Prayer for Creation, a day that invites us to pause, pray, and reflect on our
responsibility to care for God’s creation.
The
Season of Creation, observed from September 1 through October 4, has its
origins in this special day and invites us to deepen our commitment to caring
for our common home.
Dates: September 1 to October 4 each year.
2026 Theme: "Living Water," inspired by the biblical
text of Ezekiel 47:1-12:
“ We are called to
immerse ourselves in the water, and actively safeguard and work for the renewal
of creation so that environmental healing and human well-being may flourish
together.”
Purpose: To unite Christians worldwide in prayer, ecological
conversion, and community action for environmental care and the well-being
of marginalized communities.
Establishment: Pope Francis officially embraced the World Day of
Prayer for the Care of Creation in the Catholic Church in 2015 and
extended support for the broader month-long observance.
Focus: Grounded in the vision of Laudato Si',
Catholics are invited to respond to both the "cry of the earth and
the cry of the poor" through sustainable practices, advocacy, and
prayer.
