St. Patrick's Day - San Patricio

Each year on March 17, people around the world wear green to honor Saint Patrick. His feast day takes place during Lent, reminding us that this celebration has Christian roots. Saint Patrick was a Christian missionary who helped bring the Gospel to Ireland in the fifth century. Though he was not Irish by birth, his faith and dedication led many people to Christianity.

Why is Saint Patrick the patron Saint of Ireland? 

As a teenager, Patrick was kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave. During those difficult years, he prayed often and grew closer to God. After escaping and returning home, he became a priest and later returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel.

☘️The Shamrock and the Trinity Reflection

According to tradition, Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the mystery of the Holy Trinity. Just as the shamrock has three leaves but one plant, God is one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Quién es San Patricio?

Cada 17 de marzo, personas de todo el mundo se visten de verde para honrar a San Patricio. Su fiesta se celebra durante la Cuaresma, recordándonos que esta celebración tiene raíces cristianas. San Patricio fue un misionero cristiano que llevó el Evangelio a Irlanda en el siglo V. Aunque no era irlandés de nacimiento, su fe y dedicación ayudaron a muchas personas a conocer el cristianismo.

¿Por qué San Patricio es considerado el Santo patrón de Irlanda?

Cuando era adolescente, Patricio fue secuestrado y llevado a Irlanda como esclavo. Durante esos años difíciles, oraba con frecuencia y se acercó más a Dios. Después de escapar y regresar a su hogar, se convirtió en sacerdote y luego volvió a Irlanda para predicar el Evangelio.

☘️Reflexión sobre el trébol de San Patricio

Según la tradición, Patricio utilizaba el trébol para explicar el misterio de la Santa Trinidad. Así como el trébol tiene tres hojas, pero es una sola planta, Dios es un solo Dios en tres Personas: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.

Why is Saint Patrick the patron Saint of Ireland?

What is the meaning of St. Patrick Day?
What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival. Irish culture or not, people celebrate with parades, special foods and wear green.
Who is St. Patrick?
Patrick was born around 375 A.D. in Britain. His Roman parents were Calpurnius and Conchess in charge of the colonies. They were wealthy. Patrick was kidnapped and brought to Ireland. Years later, he escaped and went back to Britain. 
In his own land, he became a priest and soon a well-know bishop. Patrick had several dreams about the suffering of the Irish people and returned to save them. There are several legends about what happened with Saint Patrick in Ireland. The most prominent claiming he met the chieftain of one of the druid tribes, who tried to kill him, but he was able to convert the chieftain and preach the Gospel throughout Ireland. He often used shamrocks to explain the Holy Trinity: One Shamrock, but three leaves. As it is : One God in  THREE PERSONS (The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. )
