St. Lucia Traditions on Dec. 13

In Sweden, one of the biggest celebration is St. Lucia’s Day celebrated on December 13th.
The tradition comes from the stories about St. Lucia. She was a young Christian who was killed for her faith in 304 AC since she secretly would bring food to the persecuted Christians in the catacombs, in Rome. She would wear candles on her head to have her hands free to carry the basket with supplies. For this, Lucy means “light.”

Lovely tradition to celebrate with family and friends!
