Creative Ways to Celebrate Holy Week in Quarantine

The Church isn’t a building, it’s a community of faith that exists without walls. With the social distance and unprecedented time #StayHome🏡 the churches will stay closed through Holy Week and Easter 2020. You may be thinking, how can I still celebrate Holy Week during quarantine and worship God this Easter Season from home?

1.   I've found this practice an interesting routine for this quarantine and historical moment. Let's get back in tune with reflecting upon God's grace and presence to find the His light to look toward a better tomorrow. 

      St. Ignatius of Loyola Daily Exam Exercise:
1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions.
4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
5. Look toward tomorrow.

2.   Celebrate with family at home using the technology. You can attend Virtual daily Mass.

3.   Use the creativity to create a “Domestic Church” to have a special place of solitude with God. Follow the Link to make some crafts with your kids or for yourself.

Palm Sunday, April 5th

Palm Cross: Place a branch on the window or door of your house. 

Monday, April 6th

Holy Week Coloring Booklet: Create your own Holy Week Booklet and pray with it.

Tuesday, April 7th

Making Sorrowful Mysteries Cards: Prepare your own sorrowful mysteries card to pray.

Wednesday, April 8th
Gospel: Matthew 26:14-25

Holy Week Banner: Understand Holy Week meaning and symbols with the banner.

Thursday, April 9th
Gospel: John 13:1-15
Triduum Triptychs: Understanding the symbols of the Paschal Triduum.

Friday, April 10th
Gospel: John 18:1-19:42

Stations of the Cross play: Reflect with the Stations of the Cross play. Don’t forget to fast!

Saturday, April 11th
Gospel:  Matthew 28:1-10
Resurrection Eggs: Understanding Easter Sunday with Resurrection Eggs activity.

Easter Sunday,  April 12th

Gospel: John: 20:1-9

Easter Basket: Prepare a basket with any candy available and hide it inside home to enjoy the day with your family.
