Good Friday - Viernes Santo

Today, it is the only day of the year in which Catholic Mass is not celebrated. It's a day of fasting and  solemn prayer. We celebrate the liturgy of the Passion and Death of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Many Catholic Churches have a Stations of the Cross prayer service, as well as a Veneration of the Cross service. Let's meditate! - Luke 23:34-

This is the GOLGOTHA OR CALVARY: The
place where Jesus was crucified on the hilltop and is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

While touring the Old City of Jerusalem, we, first, visited  the Chapel of Flagellation, the Chapel of Condemnation, and the Lithostrotos, the site of the Antonia Fortress where Julius Caesar resided at the time of Christ and where Jesus was condemned to death. (Luke 23:13-25; John 19)

                        - - -VIERNES SANTO - - -

Good Friday & Hot Cross Buns - Viernes Santo y Panes con Cruz

This tradition reminds me of my mother custom to bless the food before cooking.

On Good Friday, loaves bearing an imprinted cross are eaten in diverse European countries. For instance, in England, buns were baked with a cross marked on them. They are said to have originated at Saint Alban's Abbey in 1361, where the monks distributed them to the poor.

Whatever their origin, let’s try hot cross buns this Good Friday!

Have a blessed Good Friday!

Receta: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/hot-cross-buns/

¡Ten un bendecido Viernes Santo!

Good Friday Hot Cross Buns

My mother custom to bless the food before putting the lid on the pot, it is my mind and still is in Catholic countries when they mark a new loaf of bread. The ancient Greeks may have marked cakes with a cross.
