Ladder to the Moon is an inspiring book on all levels. It contains a lyrical flow of the text, stunning artwork, and a deep message of unity.  Maya Soetoro-Ng. and Yuyi Morales included notes at the back of the book on how and why this book was created that enlightening the story.
It begins when a ladder comes down from the moon and her granddaughter, Suhaila gets to meet her grandmother Annie. They go up together and have a wonderful adventure fills with meaning and love. From a top the moon grandmother and granddaughter watch the world and help as much as they can. Two generations meeting, people coming together worshiping in their own places, and trying to help each other.
The story may be open to different interpretation, but the lovely connection between Suhaila and Annie gave me the message that we all are interconnected to grow in peace and harmony.

My favorite lines, "Looking past the golden ladder, she spotted people whose hands pointed upward from a synagogue, a temple, a mosque, and a church. One by one, every person was finding his or her own path to the moon each path connecting with the others in hope's massive stream. "
