Poetry for Peace - Poesía por la paz

A year ago, "Poetry for Peace" started via Zoom to reflect peace to cultivate unity among authors from around the world throughout poetry. This year, I will open a monthly blog post in LuzDelMes about the topic “Peace for Unity.” Each month, a poem will be promoted.

The Objective: Reach inner peace throughout poetry. #PoetryforPeace #LuzDelMes

During January 2021, we read poems by Rabindranath Tagore (1861 - 1941). The bard of Bengal who brought out the essence of Eastern spirituality in his poetry like no other poet. The Poem by Rabindranath Tagore: "Peace, My Heart"  was written as part of his cycle, "The Gardener" (1915). He uses "peace" in the sense of finding peace in the face of impending death.

 Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
 Let it not be a death but completeness.
 Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
 Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
 Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
 Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last
words in silence. I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

This year 2022, LuzdelMes remembers Thích Nhất Hạnh

(1926-2022)
a Vietnamese Thiền Buddhist monk, peace activist, prolific author and poet

LuzDelMes Poem of the Month:
Light and Love by Author Yvona Fast
Depths of inequality, despair of pandemic disease,
Disastrous effects of mistreating our Earth.
Chaotic, painful darkness invades.
In the darkness,light shines.
Sun beams down through trees to the forest floor.

Shadows yield new light.
Changing hate into love, War into peace.
Light brings awareness.
Once we saw darkly – now we see clearly
The evils of injustice, hate, destruction, disease.

Dark times lead to new,
Life-giving light – the light of justice, of peace, of love.
Now we seek out the Light, embracing the power of love,
Using our creativity and gifts to enable dim lights to grow brighter,
To shine love into cloudy days and sunny days,
Dim days and radiant days. In the deepest darkness light dawns.

The light of love glistens, glitters, glows and grows.
Share the love. Be the light.
"If I asked darkness to cover me and light to become night around me,
That darkness would not be dark to you, Night would be as light as day." —Psalm 139

POEMA DEL MES DE: Roberto Abril
... La paz no llega al alma

Vuelan aviones militares;
como jugar con juguetitos,
...los ven los niñitos...
demoliendo hogares;
... La paz no llega al alma;

Bañando de sangre a pueblecitos,
Destruyendo cuidadades;
Con endeudamientos inpagables;
Reconctrucción y reparaciones,
... La paz no llega al alma;

De las naciones apoderarse:
"No soy profeta; ni hijo de profeta".
PAZ para los que luchan por la bendita tierra,
Libre de banqueros, de militares de desastres:
... La paz no llega al alma;

Por Jesús de amores:<<Mi PAZ les dejo mi paz les doy>>
"No soy profeta; ni hijo de profeta"
Les dejo los cuadernos, lo papeles,
las libretas, llenas de palabras huecas...
que no provienen de poetas...
... La paz no llega al alma.
