International Read to Me Day is March 19 DAY to celebrate and support the reading process. We know how important reading is for children’s intellectual and social development.
During March 19th Day and during March, we can all help children with their reading and the idea of marking one special day when we do that is just one part of a much bigger strategy and hopefully you will ADORE this year’s readings and poster as much as all the previous ones.
As a Reader and Ambassador, I traveled virtually to promote USA participation: Reading: The Purple Shell by Maritza M. Mejia to #GracePrimarySchool in Dar-Es-Salam, Tanzania on March 14th

Again, another incredibly talented Australian illustrator has gifted this year celebration to the campaign. Thank Lee FullARTon for this creative poster!
Read to Me Day Marcg 19 is an initiative by Award Winning Author, Publisher, Founder of Boogie Books and Public Speaker, Emma Mactaggart. She says, "When we are read a story, we are transported to another land, another time, and we walk in the shoes of another person. In those moments, empathy for others is created, and this in-turn creates stronger communities."
A. Ambassadors
- Promote the global event (Sharing facebook link and press release and poster).
- Encourage readers to participate.
B. Readers
- Will use a calendly link to find a reading timeslot that suits them.
- Post a social media tile, and title of book / author / illustrator / publisher and let their network know what time they are reading live in the Facebook group.
- Post a Facebook live – deleting the video afterwards (we are hoping that eventually will have permission from publishers to keep the videos in the groups feed.)
- If self-published, or have permission from publisher, the video doesn’t have to be deleted.
