Holy Thursday - Jueves Santo

Maundy Thursday: 

This is the first day of the Easter Triduum, the most sacred days of the Catholic faith. It  commemorates the night before Jesus died and the Last Supper celebrated by Jesus and his disciples.

In the Lord's Supper, He made some unexpected changes in the ritual of the Jewish Passover Meal. Today, we celebrate The Lord’s Supper, following Jesus' command, “Do this in remembrance of me. “ (Luke 22'19)

It was during the Last Supper that Jesus taught his disciples that the Eucharist is truly His Body and Blood. It is the origin of Christian life, providing the life-giving grace of Christ. 

“The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of the Christian life. “ (CCC, 1324)

In the 5th century AD, the church was referred to as "Zion, Mother of all Churches. *

JUEVES SANTO - ÚLTIMA CENA DEL SEÑOR

Es el primer día del Triduo Pascual, los días más sagrados de la fe católica. Conmemora la noche anterior a la muerte de Jesús y la Última Cena celebrada por Jesús y sus discípulos.

En la Cena del Señor, Él introdujo algunos cambios inesperados en el ritual de la comida pascual judía. Hoy celebramos la Cena del Señor, siguiendo el mandato de Jesús: "Haced esto en memoria mía. "(Lucas 22:19)

Fue durante la Última Cena cuando Jesús enseñó a sus discípulos que la Eucaristía es verdaderamente su Cuerpo y su Sangre. Es el origen de la vida cristiana, proporcionando la gracia vivificante de Cristo. 

"La Eucaristía es la Fuente y la Cumbre de la vida cristiana. "(CIC, 1324) "

Holy Week - Semana Santa

Holy Week is Holy Week! 

I grew up with that idea that Holy Week is a time of silence and prayer especially during the Paschal Triduum - Maudy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday. - 

It's hard, for me, to work or perform daily activities just as a normal week. Don't miss the gift of Holy Week! 

HolyWeek: Ideas for families

Palm Sunday

Begin your celebration of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem going to Mass. If you can go you can celebrate it at home.

• Put a small statue of Jesus in the center of your dinner table.
• Remember, we begin the Most Important Week on our Liturgical Calendar.

Holy Week Preparation Days: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

• Think of spring housekeeping as a prayerful preparation for Easter in the same way that Jewish families clean in preparation for Passover.
• Separate cloths, toys or can foods to donate to any charity.

Holy Thursday

This day recalls the Last Supper when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. It reminds us that we are called to serve one another. Let’s pray the Luminous Mysteries.

Good Friday

This day commemorates the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus. It is the most solemn and sorrowful day of the Church calendar. Let’s pray the Stations of the Cross.

Holy Saturday

This day commemorates the time of darkness and waiting when Jesus was in the tomb. It is also a day for final preparations before Easter. Read the Bible.

Easter Sunday

Celebrate the risen Lord at Mass with the singing of the Gloria and alleluias, the renewal of baptismal vows, a sprinkling with Easter water and receiving the Eucharist.                      

Don’t miss this special Easter Mass.

The time you spend on your Holy Week preparations will make Easter Sunday more meaningful for the whole family.

Para mí, es difícil trabajar o conectarme con actividades diarias, así como si fuera una semana normal. ¡Que no se te escape el regalo de la Semana Santa!

Reflections by Maritza Mejia

April is here. It's time to leave behind the spiritual winter and celebrate the season of internal joy.  As Christians we welcome Easter, a time of renewal. 

Other traditions welcome Spring as symbol of new life. Trees, plants, fields are beginning to turn green and bloom; new life is emerging from the ground. 

As we know, winter symbolizes death, spring symbolizes new life. 

                                            Happy Easter!

March is gone,

New season comes,

Abril está aquí. Es hora de dejar atrás el invierno espiritual y celebrar un tiempo de gozo interno. Como Cristianos/as le damos la bienvenida  a la Pascua Florida, un tiempo de renovación. Otras tradiciones dan la bienvenida a la primavera como símbolo de una nueva vida. Los árboles, las plantas, los campos están comenzando a volverse verdes y florecer; nueva vida está emergiendo de la tierra. Así como el invierno simboliza la muerte, la primavera simboliza una nueva vida.
