¡Es Tiempo de Cambio!…It’s Time to Change!

Durante la Cuaresma nos preparamos con oración, ayuno y abstinencia a un cambio para recibir la Pascua. Pero, ¿realmente estamos cambiando?...Al ver las noticias diarias, mi respuesta es ¡NO! Algo no está funcionando bien y es necesario encontrar la raíz del problema antes que nos acostumbremos al dolor ajeno, sin hacer nada.

PARA REFLEXIONAR: Les invito a recapacitat durante el tiempo de oración, ayuno y abstinencia en RESCATAR los valores humanos que se han perdido con el afán diario de Hacer y Tener cosas en vez de SER uno mismo. Hoy es día de pensar en la juventud, más que en nosotros mismos. Los jóvenes nos están pidiendo a gritos un poco de Amor, Comunicación y Atención. ¡Abracémoslos! #LuzDelMes

Les invito a dejar los celulares a un lado una vez a la semana y:

Tener un tiempo para escuchar a sus hijos.                      Que sea su oración.

Cenar en familia y Contar anécdotas familiares:                Que sea su ayuno.

Escuchar sin criticar, juzgar, polemizar:                             Que sea su abstinencia.

¡Es Tiempo de Cambio!…It’s Time to Change!

During Lent we prepare with prayer, fasting and abstinence to a change in preparation for Easter, but are we changing?... Watching the daily news, my answer is NO! Something it is not working well and it is necessary to find the root of the problem before we get used to the pain of others, without doing anything.

Something to think about during the time of prayer, fasting and abstinence:

I invite you to reflect on your scale of priorities, rather than in judging others. 

I know! We have to work, but produce to consume attracted more by advertising, rather than necessity, it is not a good goal. 

We need to rescue family values that have been lost with the daily effort to Do and Have things, rather than BE yourself.  Today is a day of thinking about the youth, rather than ourselves. Young people are asking us a little love, communication and care. Embrace them!

I invite you to leave cell phones to one side once a week then:

Take time to listen to your children. Just listen:     Make it your prayer.

Dine together and tell family stories:                     Make it your fast.

Listen without criticize, judge, argue:                    Make it your abstinence.

Holy Week meaning ~ Significado Semana Santa

Holy Week is Holy Week! I grew up with that idea. It was a time of silence and prayer especially during the Paschal Triduum.  For me, it’s difficult to connect with work or daily activities just as a regular week. Holy Week it’s time to reflect and connect with the real reason of the passion and resurrection of Jesus.

Paschal Triduum: Evening of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and evening of Easter Sunday.

¡Semana Santa es Semana Santa! Crecí con esa idea. Era un momento de silencio y oración, especialmente durante el Triduo Pascual.  Para mí, es difícil conectarme con el trabajo o actividades diarias, así como si fuera una semana regular. Semana Santa es tiempo para reflexionar y conectar con la verdadera razón de la pasión y resurrección de Jesús.

March is here and around the corner spring season near, bringing beautiful flowers, but intense showers. Along with my Christians friends, we are preparing for Easter with the Lenten Season. This time is the opportunity to renew our faith by giving, praying and fasting. Never is too late to Re-new ourselves.

Marzo está aquí y a la vuelta de la esquina vendrá la primavera trayendo sus bellas flores, pero intensas lluvias. Junto con mis amigos/as Cristianos/as es otra historia; nos estamos preparando para la Pascua con el tiempo de Cuaresma. Este tiempo es una oportunidad para renovar nuestra fe a través del dar, orar y ayunar. Nunca es tarde para renovarnos. .

January is usually a month to make resolutions. It is gratifying to meet our goals, but do we follow the resolutions throughout the year? Probably not! Enero es un mes usualmente para hacer resoluciones. Es gratificante cumplir nuestras metas, pero ¿seguimos las resoluciones durante todo el año? ¡Probablemente no! Sin embargo, es importante empezar el año con un propósito en mente y corazón agradecido. Planea metas cortas basadas en las cosas positivas y el aprendizaje del año anterior. Paso a paso, se puede llegar lejos.

Welcome December - Bienvenido Diciembre

For Christians, December is a time of preparation for Christmas. During four weeks of waiting period called Advent, we prepare an Advent Wreath. Each Sunday a candle will be lit. The first, second, and forth candle are purple and the third candle is pink color. These colors represent a time of preparation and joy for the birthday of Jesus; reason for the season. This year, I invite you to set aside the commercial rush and find the real reason of the season. Don’t forget to collect family memories not possessions.

Para los cristianos, Diciembre es un tiempo de preparación a la Navidad. Durante cuatro semanas o período de espera llamada Adviento, preparamos una Corona de Adviento. Cada domingo se enciende una vela. La primera, segunda y cuarta vela son púrpura y la tercera vela es de color rosado. Estos colores representan la espera y gozo de la celebración al Nacimiento de Jesús; razón de la Navidad. Éste año, los invito a dejar a un lado las congestiones comerciales de ésta temporada y encontremos la razón de la Navidad. No olvides coleccionar memorias familiares no posesiones.
