Black History Month

What is Black History Month?

Months are used by various groups and organizations to raise awareness of an issue, event or celebrate something.

I
n the United States and Canada, February is Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month, is an annual observance for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African Diaspora.

There are so many amazing books from which to choose, visit: http://multiculturalkidblogs.com/black-history-month-2016/

In honor of Black History Month, I have selected Sanders’ Kids guide since it includes a host of activities, games and songs to engage the reader and to help him better appreciate the contributions of the people highlighted in the book.

For me, Vanilla and Chocolate is a useful tool to read to k-1st gtaders to introduce Black History. It is an easy to read story to understand the topic of discrimination and segregation with a simple connection with Ice-cream flavors.
