About Multicultural Children's Book Day 2022

Diversity in children’s literature has been a topic of concern to movements like Multicultural Children’s Book DayAuthors, illustrators, educators and bloggers have been an important element to make sure children have access to books that celebrate diversity. Feature characters from diverse cultures, countries and race are an important building block of the learning process in classroom and at home. It is fundamental to teach students from early age that different does not mean to be wrong.

When I was a child,  I always dreamed of traveling around the world , visiting different places, meeting people with different languages, and tasting delicious foods from around the world... I perfect dream that I made it reality over the years.

I’m pleased to be part of MCBD since June 2015 not only as an author, but also as a Reviewer to Multicultural Children’s Book Day. This event has helped me promote my books, increase followers in my social media, and meet authors from around the world.

As a Book Reviewer, I've received, free of cost, books to review and donate to my local school library or classroom teacher who requests books for students. The reviews will be added to the Massive Review Linky on the date of the event.
My reviews and activities will be posted on Goodreads, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and my BLOG LuzDelMes .
This year, I have the honor to review one of the books from great Pack-n-Go Girls! Mystery of the Golden Temple (Pack-n-Go Girls Adventures - Thailand #1)

I’m reviewing this book as part of Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2022 (1/28/22) in its 9th year. This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.

MCBD’s mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in homes and school bookshelves. Read about our Mission & History HERE.

Book Review and Activity of Mystery of the Golden Temple (Pack-n-Go Girls Adventures - Thailand #1)

                      Mystery of the Golden Temple

                  (Pack-n-Go Girls Adventures - Thailand #1)

by Lisa Travis (Author) - Adam Turner (Illustrator)

Mystery of the Golden Temple is more than a mystery story. The Pack-n-Go Girls series brings a fun way to get young readers to explore other cultures.

Mystery of the Golden Temple follows Jess Johnson, a nine-year old African-American girl traveling with her mother and brother from Boston to Thailand. In Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jess meets Nong May, the Thai daughter of her mom's colleague, and her family. Nong May's family has been having a lot of bad luck since they lost a special amulet. Nong May and Jess are hoping to find the family treasure that could change their future. While they venture and visit places in Thailand, they both learned from each other differences and similarities.

At the end of the story, the book provides a travel section, facts and a recipe that I would love to try. This is an excellent source for parents and teachers or families that would like to know about Thailand. I recommend this book for all ages.
