Building Tolerance with Vanilla and Chocolate ~ Activities
Vanilla and Chocolate first edition was published in October 2012 and the second edition
in October 2018 with WRB Publishing. The NEW version 2020 with LuzDelMes Publishing House.
Main Setting: Vanilla and Chocolate main setting is at the Black and White Picnic where the development of the story mainly takes place.
Plot: A concerned teacher helps two friends be together after their parents refused to let them play because of their skin color.
Characters: Mrs. M. prepared a Black and White Picnic Day where Vanilla and Chocolate’s parents recognized their kid’s friendship.
Message: This book was written to help children understand the virtue of Tolerance.This Bilingual Children’s Book provides a GREAT lesson that teaches children that we may have differences on the outside, we are the same inside.
Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2021 (1/29/21) is in its 8th year! This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those book into the hands of young readers and educators.
