La Virgen Morenita del Tepeyac - Dic. 12

On October 12, 1945, Pope Pius XII, decreed Our Lady of Guadalupe to be "Patroness of all the Americas." Her feast day is December 12, and it is a Holy Day of Obligation in Mexico.

Today, tens of thousands of people travel to Mexico City to visit the place where the Virgin appeared to Juan Diego. It’s a national holiday fills with traditional music, food, and fun activities. 

Pilgrims bring bouquets of flowers, music, prayers (mandas) or walk on their knees on the stone street leading to the Basilica to the Virgin “Morenita.”

El día de la Virgen de Guadalupe es una de las celebraciones más grandes de México, y miles se reúnen para dar gracias a "La Morenita” por los milagros recibidos durante el año presentando mandas (promesas), flores, música o incluso caminando por el empedrado en las rodillas hasta llegar a la Basílica. ¡Es un día para celebrar las tradiciones!
