My tomato is a warrior!

Summer 2016, I started a Gardening Project. I was impressed how quickly my tomato was growing. From the first week to a month, I had to change to bigger pots several times. Then, I started to stake it for easy growing and followed this  great article, Grow your tomatoes with these easy tips. You can read it on: https://www.backyardboss.net/tips-for-growing-tomatoes/

A year after, the strong tomato survived inside my house for a week during Hurricane Irma's arrival on September 10th, 2017. It lost half of its leaves, but IT'S ALIVE!

Gardening Project to Celebrate Life

Plan Sunflowers or any plant this year!

Life could be like a gardening project. Plant a seed, nourish, care and follow up the progress for a successful garden. Next time you venture in a project look at life as a farming job.

I began 2016 with a goal to have my own herb garden to use fresh basil, oregano, parsley and tomatoes on my recipes. I planted sunflower to give color to my yard. It was a lovely project, but when the winter came, it was a disaster. It's hard to keep plans protected from the frozen nights. We all have winter days, but spring comes and brights our days.
Gardening project
1.  Soak Sunflower seeds into water overnight.
2.  Poke holes on each cup.
.

3.  Add soil to each cup.
 4.  Place  seeds in each cup.

5.  Add water to each cup.
 6.  Place cup next to a window for sun.

Six months later, the sunflower seed died. I had a good progress with my herb garden until winter 2016 came; one frozen night, my plants got ruined.

Life is full of surprise like planting a garden!

My 2017 gardening project is to plan some trees with my family. Here we are!
 Planting  Trees
Prepare the area, add water, and fertilizer
Dig hole, clean area, add good soil
Place tree into the hole, add water, cover with more soil
Let's wait for the results...I'll keep you up to date.

Gardening Project - Growing Herbs

Growing Herbs

I began the year with a goal to have my own herb garden to use fresh basil, oregano, parsley, mint and rosemary on my recipes; this is what I learned:
Basil is known around the world for its wonderful fragrance and flavor. If you were to grow only one herb, this should probably be it.

Oregano is an easy-growing plant for the garden or container. I need to trim the plant often to keep flower formation at bay.

Parsley is easy to chop and the nutritious flat leaves are high in iron and in vitamins A, C, and E. I grew the Italian flat-leafed parsley which distinguishes it from the curly-leafed parsley. At first the foliage might be easily confused with cilantro, but the taste is different.

Mint as many herbs are easy to grow. I’m adding crush fresh leaves into water for a refreshing beverage. You can also dry leaves for flavoring dishes.

Rosemary is a lovely, easy-to-grow plant with great culinary and ornamental value from the Mediterranean region and member of the mint family.

Gardening Project - Growing Tomatoes

Growing Tomatoes

According to scientists, tomatoes are clearly fruits, since they are the part of the tomato plant that bears seeds. Cooks, however, classify tomatoes as vegetables since they are the edible part of the tomato plant.

I am impressed how quickly the tomato is growing. Soon I would have to plant it on a 5 gallon pot and Feed with liquid plant food every couple of weeks during the growing season. I started to stake to easy growing, but later I have to cage the tomato to protect. Most tomatoes work best with a 5- to 6-foot trellis, stake, or cage.
