Book Review of Plumas y Amigos - Feather and Friends

This year, I have a list of amazing bilingual, English and Spanish picture books that I received as part of Read Your World (formerly known as Multicultural Children’s Book Day). For more than ten years, I’ve been a reviewer, author sponsor for six of them, and a proud member of the Board of Trustees. 

This is one of my book reviews for 2026:

With colorful illustrations, the story introduces Sami, originally from Afghanistan, who has just moved to Seattle and loves to draw. While drawing a huge bird on the pavement, he meets Rosa, who loves to write and lives in Ecuador. The two discover that they share an interest in birds and, together, embark on a project to create a book about all the birds they see during their excursion. 

This bilingual English-Spanish book is part of the Language Lizard Living in Harmony collection, which helps explain concepts such as diversity, kindness, and friendship. An excellent book for ESOL programs.

Con coloridas ilustraciones la historia no presenta a Sami, originario de Afganistán, que acaba de mudarse a Seattle y le encanta dibujar. Mientras dibujaba en el pavimento una enorme ave, conoce a Rosa, quien  le encanta escribir y vive en Ecuador. Los dos descubren que comparten un interés por las aves y, juntos, se embarcan en un proyecto para crear un libro sobre todas las aves que ven durante su excursión. 

Este libro, bilingüe en inglés y español, forma parte de la colección Language Lizard Living in Harmony, que ayuda a explicar conceptos como la diversidad, la amabilidad y la amistad. Excelente libro para los programas de ESOL.
